Technology Overview

The suggested MFI Soft solution is based on the DVB-T(H) technology that allows broadcasting of no less than 20 channels with an improved quality of sound and video at a single frequency.

The technology employs low-power (10-20 Watt) transmitters. Such network organization allows flexible control of the broadcasting and content locality. Modifications in the broadcasting program can be made at the level of an individual BTS (100 km2 coverage) involving no significant additional costs.

Additional equipment deployed at the BTS includes: a DVB-T (H) broadcast transmitter, antennas, a media server and a system of high bit-rate communication between the base station (BTS) and the switching center.

The cost of DVB-T equipment for a single BTS is € 20 000.

Content Delivery

The mobile operator receives content at the delivery point on the content provider’s network (VGTRK’s gateway, for example) and forwards it across the overlay IP network to the media server.
Media servers are deployed at regional switching centers of the operator’s network and at base stations.

There is a possibility to create an individual play-list for every media server custom-made from national broadcasts, programs of local channels and TV advertising spots. It is also possible to buffer special broadcasting streams. The management of media servers and content is centralized and carried out by means of a specialized system.

Such organization of content delivery allows thorough integration of national and local broadcasting as well as embedding of local and advertising content without additional costs.
